AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants Baseball team is a classic urban baseball park, located on the historic waterfront of Mission Bay. Details of the signage draw from the City’s iconic waterfront heritage of docks, warehouses and ferry traffic. This animated neon sign spans O’Doul Gate, adjacent to the waterfront promenade along San Francisco Bay where many home run balls splash down. The design evokes the legacy of turn of the century neon which dominated the San Francisco waterfront. An animated neon seal appears in the water when the Giants have won, making reference to their original name and current mascot.

DESIGNER: Kevin Keljo
FABRICATOR: Security Signs
ENTRY: Security Signs pylon sign

Kevin KeljoRanked as the #1 Most Eco-Friendly City in America in 2008 by Popular Science & Sustain Lane, Oregonians are always looking for ways to reduce waste. This is precisely why our 25’ tall pylon sign was built by remanufacturing an 8 year old Tony Roma sign. The original Tony Roma sign was fabricated by a sheet metal worker that was employed with Security Signs for 35 years in August of 2000 which coincided with our 75th anniversary. It is a fitting tribute to his service to our company and to Portland’s sustainable model to let the sign live again!
The pylon colors were painted with Spraylat Mark 1 acrylic urethane coating system to match the building colors. The face is fabricated aluminum with a glossy watermark logo. Our logo is fabricated 3” deep open pan-channels with exposed 12mm Technolux Sunflower #317 neon and the tag-line is EGL CL 83 White neon. The retro style arrow is fabricated aluminum painted to match Miller Red Alert with exposed 15mm Technolux Uncoated Ruby Red neon. A Daktronics GalaxyPro 20mm RGB message center allows us to showcase our signs as well as community messages for our neighborhood.

ENTRY: Illuminated Ensemble, A 20-year Odyssey of Sound & Vision

Back in the late 1900’s, I acquired an old vintage art deco Philco radio cabinet from a friend. At that time, I was experimenting in Faux Finishing and gutted the electronics (did not work functionally as a radio) and refinished the cabinet and painted with faux granite finish to the sides.
As a designer working at Poblocki, I worked up different concepts for the speaker grill area. One of the concepts included illumination.
My friend, the late great Mark Shully, working at Poblocki as their Neon Artist suggested putting Neon in it. That was it, a neon illuminated cabinet giving the old radio back its Sonic Warmth.
After many drawings, I incorporated a “new” Deco pattern to it. The Illumination consists of 2 tubes exposed vertical 12mm bromo blue glass, ½” sandblasted acrylic edge lit with 12mm white neon with blue green film diffuser, and hand hammered copper sheeting behind.
Through the years, the top configuration Ensemble is always changing with the times; functional tape reels, decks, radios, cd players, iPod. Currently, Alabaster Pillars, 4” deep fabricated stainless steel letter “O”, chrome vanity light fixture with blue lamps, Art Deco FRANKART Figurine.
